Currently working as a child specialist since 2002 to this date. Have acquired extensive knowledge in managing pediatric cases and neonates. Wide exposure to managing neonates in NICU, including patients with: severe birth asphyxia, respiratory syndromes, hyperbilirubinemia, congenital & acquired infection at birth, preterm, vlbw and several neonatological diseases. Also, patients present with congenital surgical conditions, where we evaluate them and institute medical measures till surgical intervention is required. We receive new born babies in labor room / Operation Theater and provide them initial resuscitation. We manage preterm, VVLBW & LBW by incubator care, temperature maintenance, septic and metabolic screening. We care of their feedings by – intra gastric or total parenteral in VLBW and sick patients. We have managed successfully babies with respiratory syndromes, rhesus incompatibility, necrotizing enterocolitis, septicemia, premature patients with intracranial hemorrhage, babies with apnea and metabolic disorders. We have acquired competency to perform interventional procedures for diagnosis and therapeutic purposes. This includes: Lumber puncture for diagnosis & intrathecal administration of medicines, Exchange transfusion, insertion of chest tube for drainage, Cerebral ventricular tap. Providing advance life support by artificial ventilation by endotracheal intubation and managing patients on ventilator. Performing Umbilical venous & arterial catheterization for sampling and I/V fluid, Capillary blood sampling (Heelstick), venipuncture, Abdominal paracentesis and performing Urethral bladder catheterization, supra pubic puncture for urine sampling for diagnosis of diseases. We receive, evaluate, diagnose and treat sick patients in Emergency Room with severe dehydration & electrolytes imbalance, Respiratory distress, Diabetic ketoacidosis, Malnutrition, infectious diseases like: malarial, typhoid encephalopathy, meningitis, Fitting patients with various causes. We have significant skills to manage (diagnose and treat) patients with gastrointestinal disorders like: Gluten entropathy, gastritis, malabsorption syndromes and liver diseases. We also manage children with Nephrotic and Nephritic syndromes and with other urogenital conditions. We also have acquired skills to manage patients diagnosed with congenital heart disease like VSD, ASD & TOF and refer them for further evaluation and assessment by pediatric cardiologist. We have responsibility to manage patient Out-patients, In-patients and receive emergency call to treat sick patients.
