Introduction

Director
MBBS, MD, DM (AIIMS)

Hematologist, Hemato-oncologist and Stem Cell Transplant Specialist With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Rahul Bhargava is currently the Director of Haematology, Paediatric Haematology, Immunology and Stem Cell Transplant at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Gurgaon – India’s first integrated Centre of Excellence in Haematology, Paediatric Haematology, and Stem Cell Transplant.

In 2016, he became the first Indian doctor to do and popularise Stem Cell Transplant in a Multiple Sclerosis patient. He has helped established eight low-cost stem cell transplant centres across India – centres at Sarvodaya Hospital, Batra Hospital, Action Balaji Hospital among others.

With 400+ successful Stem Cell Transplants, Dr. Rahul and his team specialise in complex Haploidentical & Matched Unrelated Transplant, in fact, the first ever Haploidentical Stem Cell Transplant in Gurgaon for a Fanconi Anaemia patient was done by this very team.

From his college days, Dr. Rahul Bhargava has been an advocate of Community Haematology when he started an initiative called “SAY NO TO WHOLE BLOOD” with the sole aim to educate people about the optimum utilisation of whole blood by breaking it down into its components to get the maximum benefit from the most precious resource. The splitting of whole blood into its three components – red blood cells, plasma and platelets – can actually help at least three people who can get the component they need and not the components they don’t.

Dr. Rahul strongly believes in sharing knowledge, and since Haematology is a fairly niche field of medical science, he shares his vast knowledge and experience to doctors through various CME initiatives. With more than 250 such sessions, in both India and overseas, Dr. Rahul hopes that his knowledge and experience will help doctors in diagnosing blood disorders early.
